While the economy is less than well, lets say, great. Thrift shops and garage sales are popping up on every corner and the more and more I realize there's really no need to buy anything brand new. I love to decorate and refinish thing and thrift shops can be quite fun. So I've been thinking maybe I'll spend a year buying everything used. While for some, not going shopping would be torture of epic proportions. But I'm really not a shopper and have always been fairly frugal. But I think I could learn a lot and really save some money by buying used items.
You may ask yourself, why set this goal if you don't have a shopping problem? The answer is simple. I'm moving into my own place and have NOTHING at the moment. Just a few items I've picked up over time but still lots to be done. To furnish an apartment with nothing new is quite a challenge in my opinion. I'm still coming up with the guide lines for my nothing new challenge. i.e. I can still buy new underwear. But I think I'll start on March 1st.

kid quote of the week:
Learning about the letter D:
Teacher: What are some things that start with the letter D?
Student: Donuts!
Teacher: That's right! and when do we eat donuts?
Student: After Church
