House sitting Day 2: Dogs Dogs and More Dogs

Well Day two went a little better than day one. The AC is fixed... I think? The dogs are finally use to me. The little pup finally stopped growling at me for simply being in the room. We're moving in the right direction. But I've had a lot of dogs lately. I have my own dog, I'm watching 2 at the house, my parents watched my neighbors dog at our house for the weekend and then my cousin came over and brought his dog. That's 5 dogs in ONE DAY. It's a lot of dogs when I'm use to my one dog. Once one dog licks you, they all smell it and have to do the same. I'm ready for a dog break! I don't know how people have multiple dogs!

But since all the bosses at work are on vacation our staff meeting was very sparse but very productive I think. Funny how much work gets done when the bosses are gone. But only 5 intern days left! :)

House Sitting Day 1

So my boss at the internship took pity on me and gave me a chance to make money. When he asked if I wanted to make money I got excited thinking I was FINALLY going to get paid for my slave labor. But alas, it was  nothing work related. He just wanted me to house sit and watch his two dogs.

Now after one night of house sitting I'm feeling a little doped into this gig. First off, It's 20 mins from my current home and school which is slightly annoying. While it's nice to have place to myself and watch a movie in full with out a single interruption. There's no food in the house. He said I was free to eat his food. That would be nice if there was any! Secondly, The AC is on the frits and it's 80 outside. So because of growing up in house that rivals Alaska in temperature, I couldn't sleep from the heat.

While I'm a little disappointed in how this is playing out, I'm not sure if I'll spend the night again or not and just make the 20 min ride a few times a day. But all I know is I will be at work tomorrow working for free while he sits on the beach in south florida some where. luckily only 3 weeks of internship left and 4 of school!

And last of All. HAPPY EASTER!

How to take a study break:

While my 20 page theory paper on The Elaboration Likely Hood Model and Semiotics Theory looms over my head, I decided to take a break from my writing and update this thing. While I would much rather be hanging out with my friends or simply working to make money, I'm stuck in the anti-social world of paper writing. A theory paper none the less.

While the current state of my room is a good visual for how my brain feels. Scattered, unorganized, and just down right chaos. Knowing my graduation is only 5 weeks away is keeping my little bit of sanity and motivation.

Any one else feel compelled to organize random things or finally get to that to do list when it's really time to study and get work done??

Back to the paper I go.

If I had a million dollars...

I would pack and move to sea side, Fl. Stuck between Destin and the spring break capitol, Panama City. rest a few quite beach towns on road 30 A. It's most famous for being the location of the Truman Show. I spent my break here and it was a little slice of heaven! Ok maybe just simply being away from school and work and Kennesaw for a few days added to the wonderfulness of this trip. But it was amazing none the less.

Now if you've never been the Sea Side you may want to save up before you go. It's not a cheap place to stay. (we knew someone with a condo and struck a deal) But if I had a million dollars to live there I would. I've seriously debating moving down there post graduation and simply being a nanny for one of the wealthy families down there. I think it'd be a great life.

Yea, Don't we all want to live there?

My lovely view.

I could live here too.

Also If I had a million bucks I'd buy this.

So I gave in and actually bought this. While we will not discuss the price of this, this is sooo me. and it's super super soft. Most of my stuff is from target and old navy so I should have one good shirt. And I used a gift card to buy it so it's all good.

It's an artsy kinda town and this is something cute. Who thinks of these things?? I'm going to try and make one myself. Can't be that hard right??

Now it's back the grind of work and school. But thinking of sea side will get me through these last few weeks of college... EVER!

Going Orgainic??

So after a solid two weeks of rush hour traffic, loads of class work and lack of money thanks to the unpaid internship, My diet and my visits to the gym are beginning to suffer. With no time to shop I was forced to eat out for lunch more than I'd like in a week and my few dollars only stretch so far. Needless to say, I'm in need of some good quality food. My feeling if ick was not helped by watching Oprah's episode on the documentary Food Inc. But it's true. Fresh organic food does make you feel better and I am in desperate need of some and some new recipes.

My friend Anna (who lives in Utah) and I swapped some recipes via mail. I know who would have thought?! Mailing a friend a letter these days. But it's fun to get mail that doesn't include the world "Balance due" every now and then. I'm eager to try some of the goodies she sent me. I just may do a blog about it.

If any one out there in blog world has a good recipe or just a good food tip in general I would love to have it!

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens....

These are a few of my favorite things!!
While we get caught up in the routine of life I decided to write about a few new things that have brought joy to my daily routine of school and work.

I know, it's a odd choice for a favorite things list, but after 4 annoying years of trying to clear up my face I finally found something that works. Although it does dry out my face a little, it led to me finding something else on my list so it's a win in my book!

This is my second favorite, a direct result of the first. I got it in a kit and have loved it. It just leaves your skin feeling fresh and not overly lotioned. Not to mention it's natural and smells wonderful.

Third: Green Tea. While my southern roots have had my glued to extra sweet tea my whole life and I have finally found others. While Green is my favorite there are a few others. Although mine usually comes from the little packets and not in  fancy pot and cup like this. OK so I add some splenda to it but you can't blame a girl from the south!

My new itouch I received as a christmas gift. I'm a bit of a nerd and like gadgets and this one is AMAZING. I didn't think it would be this cool. Seriously. Right now I'm stuck playing Tetris. But I'm some one that works with their hands and playing stupid mindless games on this thing helps me relax between classes.

The biggest source of joy: My sorority. While I took a semester off and debated if I should come back for my last semester. I'm glad I did! It's filled with a lovely bunch women who are always in a good mood and full of life. I've become best friends with girls I never would have met otherwise. While I know sororities have their stereo- types and reputations. This one fits me and I fit it.

It's the little things in life that get us through some days and these are some of mine. What are yours?

The beginning of the end

As I enjoy what might be my last christmas break, ready for the last semester in my college experience, A quote appeared on my sorority's (delta phi epsilon) website and it made me think. It's my last semester of college. I have a great internship that has lots of potential post graduation. A full academic load. I'm going active in my sorority after a long semester off and I'm excited to see what my senior year experience class will have in store for me.

I've worked two jobs to put myself through college and while I would have loved to just take out student loans and party away my college years. With this economy I am grateful I will graduate debt free. And when my children are away at college and come begging for money I will kindly remind them of this detail in my life. I'm sure they'll hate me for it.

While I'm not sure where I will be after may (hopefully I can drive across the country this summer) I'm glad I'm here. I can see the finish line. To do something only a few of the men in my family have done and graduate college. While I am completely rethinking the communication major and thinking being a teacher would be a pretty good fit for me, I honestly don't know what the future holds but I know it will be a welcomed change!

While the color coded planner in my is stress by not knowing where I will be in 6 months. The rest of me is pretty excited.

I will leave you with the quote that inspired this post:

Sororities symbolize all that we wish to accomplish in our lives. They represent the struggles we all face as we grow. Why we cling to them no one can explain, but in the end, we are all stronger for it."
